I used to rely on bug sticks with an ammonia compound or steroid creams, both have become hard to find. Left the original with my hostess, bought another for myself and one for a relative who goes camping.
Not only do I suffer from desirable blood, I have pretty bad reactions to bites. No anaphylaxis, thankfully, but I get half dollar size welts on average, bruised or discolored skin for weeks and months after the bite has "healed", some bites become open welts and depending on location they can swell as big as an infants fist.
For this reason, I am always scouring the market for anti itch creams, scents, plants, after bite care, preventative care etc etc. When I saw this, I was skeptical but as I spend mosquito season miserable and so itchy I'm in actual pain and tears, I thought I'd give it a go.
Holy cow, pigs do have wings and redbull made me fly! I didn't have any repellent (react negatively to deet) and ended up at a rest stop walking dogs and being devoured alive by a slow moving black swarm of blood suckered. Stopping to find and prepare mosquito repellent wasn't possible with 2 puppies who needed some exercize and potty breaks so we kept moving, pacing all along the gravel trying to prevent the bugs from landing. It wasn't very successful and I learned one of my poor dogs also has the good blood.
I had bites on my fingers, hands, arms, ankles, neck and forehead. It was a hot day and I had a hoodie on but they still got to my arms, little mother cluckers.
After the dogs were taken care of, we loaded up and swatted any mosquitos that managed to get jn the car and i started heat treating the bites I could get to, especially focusing on the areas above the shoulder because I don't need giant red and purple welts and bruises for months on my face.
It hurts. Way worse than a bee sting, and lasts longer than an IV being put in. I've had over 50 IVs so I'd know. I managed to do 6 seconds on my forehead without too much drama and I did my arms for 6 seconds. The rest and any sensitive areas like my neck and ankle were reduced to 3 seconds and I hissed through all 3 seconds.
Normally, I wouldn't recommend causing pain to yourself or loved ones. Actually, it's fun to cause pain to loved ones. Especially a parent or brother who tries to act tough while you treat their bug bites. And I would absolutely not cause pain to myself or others if I wasn't confident in the results.
The pain from the heat treatment immediately takes the itch away. My bites didn't welt, swell or bruise and were completely gone within 48 hours. This is literal voodoo Witch magic and I am here for it, all the way. I will state that the sooner you do the treatment after being bit, the better the healing and recovery time is. My ankles didn't get treated well and even though it was a month and a half ago, I've still got bruising on the ankle but the welts and swelling are gone.
If you are a massive mosquito attractant and can handle a couple sessions of 3 seconds hot pain, I 1000% recommend this product because for 3 to 6 seconds of discomfort, the results are so worth it. I think I'll gift these as stocking stuffers to every adult family member this Christmas
That said, if you're prone to insect bites that cause itching, even intense itching, this item is worth its weight in gold. The description says the heat neutralizes the enzymes that cause itching from a bug bite. This is apparently accurate, because it stops the itching right away. The urge to scratch is gone, so the bites heal faster for me. I recently moved from a large city to a very rural area, and have therefore been providing buffet-style meals, while working outside, for mosquitos, gnats, and seed-ticks. Itchy, itchy, itchy. Some of the bugs actually get beyond the insect repellant I don't like to use and will bite most often in inconvenient spots.
I was a little concerned about getting burned from intentionally putting something hot on my skin, but it was really for naught. The best comparison I can think of is it's like a tiny little hotplate about the size of an eraser-head on the end of this small, battery-operated device which has a built in timer button you press once for a three second treatment or twice for a six second period. The level of hotness depends on what body part you're using it on. As an example, using it on your back or forearm causes a noticeable but not uncomfortable sense of warmth. Using it on your armpit or groin does cause a little stinging/burning feeling, but it is definitely not unbearable.
As a long-time bug attractant, I'm a great test-subject, and I can tell you without doubt that this truly does work well in stopping the itching from bites from vectors. It usually works for the life of a bite, although I occasionally have to zap the area a second time, which gets it right back on the healing track. I'm not sure about stings that are painful, like bees or wasps, but I certainly will try it. I absolutely recommend this device, and know that if you have one when leaving for a camping trip with friends, you will be very popular.

This year I invested in one of these Beurer bite zappers. I'm so sorry I didn't do so earlier. It works like magic. The heat from the zap denatures the itch-making proteins in the bites (I think), but it also seems that it disarms your own body's overzealous itch reactions. Really bad bites may need several zaps over a couple of days, but the relief is practically instant. Healing seems a lot quicker, too. Well worth the money!

Aucun produit juste de la chaleur et facilement transportable. On sent un léger picotement a l'application de la chaleur mais cela ne dure pas longtemps et on peut régler la durée.
