Utilized for our wedding reception which was at a friends home... they have an inground pool and I wanted to be able to utilize what would be a nonwalkable space with something. As the reception was in the evening, this was the perfect solution. We used about 100 of these and I could have used more to fill the pool solid, but it did the trick! The key was having two friends who set these up for us prior to guests arriving as these do arrive flat, and you need to "pop" them open.I used the JINHEZO 36 Piece Waterproof Wedding Underwater battery operated lights with these lanterns, and it worked great! (yeah, my two friends did a lot to make this happen - pop open lanterns, twist on little lights, set lights in lanterns, place lanterns in the pool yada yada). They are rimmed with a shiny metallic gold - and are a paper style lantern, that are slightly waterproof. While I did lose a couple over the 8 hours they were in active reception time mode, I felt that impressive! They are biodegradable, so if you wish to place in an open body of water, feel free to do so with no guilt. The next day the majority were still afloat, and the ones that had degraded, we simply used the pool net to fish out, which was an easy task.I deff recommend for anyone who wants to purchase a large quantity of lanterns without breaking your budget.

5.0 out of 5 stars They really do float!!!
Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2019
These lanterns are good. There were many reviews about how awful they were but we didn't have issues, even on a windy day, with a bit of boat wake. We floated them into the Willamette River. Only one blew out just as it launched. The paper is a bit brittle and can crack easily if it's opened too quickly. The gold paper is also very stiff and we creased it away from it's original fold to hold the shape better. We drew on the sides with Sharpie and Copic markers. Recommend these over the more expensive, "unsinkable" lanterns. They are the same, these just don't have the seemingly unnecessary air packet glued to the bottom. No boards were necessary to float the lanterns.

You can’t open any of them without them tearing or ungluing from the seams, you can’t write on them either. Don’t buy this product, waste of money

Son muy frágiles para abrir. Se rompen y les entra agua entonces se empiezan a hundir. No duran ni la hora.
